So we were supposed to go to a hockey game with some friends of ours tonight, but it was cancelled. Because of the snow.
Only here. Seriously, ONLY here would a hockey game be cancelled because there's too much of the cold stuff outside the rink.
No problem, though, because we have fireplace logs. We also had the makings for a fantastic breakfast-as-dinner. Notice the past tense there, because it's gone, baby, gone. But we do have eggnog and rum, which probably won't be around long either.
For some reason, though, we find ourselves watching a guy who's sporting an extremely large afro ice skating on TV. Which means that the whole evening's theme of irony has now come full circle.
I feel oddly complete.

(Being Swedish the vcery thought of hockey being canceled due to snow is rather preposterous to me).

Even when we got almost 2 feet of snow (only slight exaggeration), I still had to go to work! Though I do remember one Christmas when I got stranded at my parents' house in a blizzard. By the 3rd day, my sister was bundling up to "run away" for a few hours and I was paying neighborhood kids to dig my car out of the snow.

There is a lot of irony in your day. School was canceled here yesterday due to weather--mostly ice however, we got only a few inches of snow, but that was on top of the ice. here from Michele's
